This trip is an excellent combination of mountain biking and trekking for 4 days, which will take us from the Imperial City of Cusco to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, through small villages and Incan archaeological sites. We will start from a pass at over 4000 meters above sea level for a 4-hour mountain bike ride through the heart of the cloud forest, through beautiful mountain and rainforest landscapes. The following days we will have the opportunity to hike through mountains and valleys, we will pass by small villages and their coca plantations, fruits and vegetables, and of course, coffee from these tropical valleys. We will enjoy the view of the famous Inca Trail and the Urubamba River, sacred river of the Incas. We will finally arrive in the small town of Aguas Calientes from where we will enter Machu Picchu.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco - Chinchero - Ollantaytambo - Malaga Pass - Waman Marca - Maranura (mountain biking)

We meet at your hotel at 6.30am. We will leave the city aboard our private vehicle, between the hills that border Cusco, passing through Chinchero. Ancient Inca fortress, with intact architecture, it overlooks the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to Ollantaytambo.
From there, we will go up to the Abra Malaga (pass located 4400 meters above sea level) where we will arrive around 10am. This is the starting point of our ATV adventure (except in case of bad weather, we will advance to the next starting point). We will begin the descent of 3 or 4 hours in the middle of the forest, to join the hot valleys of the Basin of the Amazon, crossing picturesque villages.
We have lunch on the road. Also we will have the chance to observe the local flora and visit the archaeological site of Waman Marca ("the falcon site" in Quechua). We will arrive at Maranura (1110m) where we will have dinner and spend the night at a family of the village (10 minutes from Santa Maria). The afternoon will be a moment of exchange with the family, who will teach you how to harvest coffee and coca, depending on the season. If you wish you will have time for optional activities.

Day 2: Maranura – Santa Teresa (Trekking)

Raise to approx. 6:00. Champions Breakfast prepared by our hosts with a local coffee plantation. We will begin our walk along the Vilcanota River, then the terrain will become steeper until we reach an old Inca road, bordered by steep precipices of more than 800m. We will continue the path for 2 hours until we reach Qellomayo (1810m), a village where we will have lunch. Ideal place to observe the wildlife and flora of the region, and fruit trees. We will continue our walk along the Vilcanota River, before reaching the hot springs of Cocalmayo, close to the village of Santa Teresa. After relaxing in the warm waters, we will reach Santa Teresa (1810m), where we will have dinner and sleep. Night in an inn.

Day 3: Santa Teresa – Station Hydroélectrica – Aguas Calientes (Trekking)

We get up at approx. 6:00. A Champions Breakfast is prepared by our hosts with a local coffee from the plantation. We will begin our walk along the Vilcanota River, then the terrain will become steeper until we reach an old Inca road, bordered by steep precipices of more than 800m. We will continue the path for 2 hours until we reach Qellomayo (1810m), a village where we will have lunch. Ideal place to observe the wildlife and flora of the region, and fruit trees. Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will leave our hotel very early after breakfast and we will try to take one of the first buses that goes up to Machu Picchu (half an hour climb), to enjoy an unforgettable view with the sunrise on the site . Our guide will make us visit and explain to us how was the life in the citadel, as well as the cults and ceremonies that the Incas performed in the many temples and sacred places present on the site. After 2 hours of guided tour, you can enjoy the magic of the Machu Picchu sanctuary at your own pace. Those who wish can climb the mountain Huayna Picchu and will be rewarded with an exceptional view of Machu Picchu seen from above (entry to Huayna Picchu must be booked in advance). Shuttles take us back from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, from where we will take our train back to Ollantaytambo, then our bus to your hotel in Cusco.

During the high season (May to August), we are subject to restrictions set by the Ministry of Culture, which provides us with passes for Mach Picchu, so the trek departure dates could be changed to one or two days past, we will then adapt the program so that you can make the most of it.

(1) Huayna Picchu mountain tour or Machu Picchu: To climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu, this requires a good time in advance. We take care of the booking and guarantee your entrance to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu. With, of course, an additional charge of $ 70.00 in addition to the entrance to Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, according to the regulation of the Ministry of Culture (this new law came into force on July 18, 2011).

(2) Additional carrier : According to the law (26702) of the Ministry of Employment, the collaboration of an additional bearer will be granted at the request of the customer. However, the customer's luggage must not exceed 12 kilograms. The service costs USD 140 and includes transportation, entrance to the Inca Trail, food and camping equipment.

(3) Gratuities : For guides (and possible porters) are always welcome.

(4) Student card : To qualify for the $ 20.00 student discount, you must have a valid ISIC student card when booking - not just when you arrive in Cusco! The validity must correspond to the whole year in progress. When booking, we will need a copy of your card. The Ministry of Culture is strict when regulating student cards.
